There is something about red lipstick...

that is so seductively special. That when I put it on and I get over the initial shock of how it looks on my face, HELLOOOO RED!! And also the time it takes for my lips to get reacquainted with their old friend, when they currently hang in the more "Square" crowd of kiehl's lip balm and the like...
When I put it on it somehow transforms me, into feeling glamourous like a primpy 1930's girly girl. I love what it means and what the strong feminine statement RED lips represents.  And who doesn't like to feel feminine sexy and classic?  It is something that has transcended in the fashion world among the ages. It never, ever goes out of style.  I guess as the old saying goes you can rock anything if you do it with confidance.

What would she do without those glossy red lips?

Valentine's day red lips!

We aren't doing anything for Valentine's day this year because we are going to be here in FOUR days!

I cannot wait to feel the sun and the heat, listen to some concerts and eat amazing food. Hopefully some shopping here and there as well! We will be leaving Charlotte for the first time -both of us at the same time and that makes me feel sick to my stomach. We will be a plane ride away, I will miss her sweet little face, her gentle little hugs, and her little chit chatter. Heck! At the rate she's going she will acquire 50 new words in Italian by the time we get home!  I am going to miss her like crazy. I'm trying to give my self a five day reserve of hugs, kisses, and cuddles to last the time I am gone.  But I know she is in the best care possible with my mom and dad she will be spoiled rotten and doted upon. And I know that we need this trip away to get rejuvenated and come back with a fresh rejuvenated outlook. Come June I will be singing a different tune - not bad but definately different a.k.a not jet setting off to tropical destination to see Sheryl Crow and Neil Diamond.

This little boy BUMP is going to see some SUN!!! He won't know what hit him.

Happy 22 weeks
and Happy LOVE DAY!

It's a Blue!!

We are both so happy to say that we are having a very healthy baby boy! I thought all along that it was a girl. There you have it, it really is a 50/50 shot!
What a beautiful day it was for the news!
This is going over the Port Mann bridge on the way to the big reveal! I could barely contain myself, I was bursting and wiggling with excitement. ..and I had to pee lol. The hour lapse of drinking a liter of water and the ultrasound and refraining from using the bathroom is a little bit uncomfortable at best!
Waiting waiting in the waiting room! Liam was trying to read a magazine and I kept interupting him with "what do think about this? And if it's a "this" what would we do with "_____" and blah blah blah - how can you even read right now.!" What seemed like ages a man came out and said my name and I practically jumped up. He was so nice and thorough and totally went over and beyond - like it wasn't his job - more like he was doing us a favour. He showed me the chambers of the heart, the spine, the brain, and all the details that gave me a clear mind that this baby was a healthy one. He called Liam in and without delay asked us if we were sure that we wanted to know the sex and we both nodded that YESYESYES we want to know! Then he said it "you are having a baby boy!" I burst into happy tears and hugged Liam so tight..I'm going to have a mini you!!
That day I went thru the boy clothes that I have from a friend and seperated them into age categories just to relish in the fact that I am indeed having a baby! Let the nesting and planning begin!
Yesterday I got in my car and the temperature gage read 18 degrees, in direct sunlight but still..how glorious!!
This called for a trip to the park.

I just love when sun seeps thru trees like this. Makes me feel like summer is not far away!

My mom and my Charlotte.

My dad and Char up in the "barn" as she calls it!

Today is more of a stay in yoga pants and drink a decaf latte out of a fancy cup day!

Hump day hurdle!
Only 10 more days till MAUI!!

Boy or Girl???

That is the question!
We find out tomorrow and I am in a FRENZY of excitement!
I am having fun looking at both options for room decor- these are my faves so far.
Boy
Bright and colorful

love yellow and grey

colors

all photos via pinterest

I am absolutely loving the yellow and grey combination.
So cozy and warm and such a clean look. Those ikea shelves in last photo are lifesavers and so versatile!

Girl

Wall color and bedding
This reminds me of a watered down watermelon, juicy juicy!
The wallpaper gives it such a feminine and dainty look.

Love the little bit of whimsy and the little eye surprises of red!

Gabrielle from pottery barn

So airy and bright looking...may not be ideal for promoting early bedtimes in the summer..

"Dahlia" from PBKids

Sigh....

Either, Or??

Again.. me and my obsession
yellow and grey with a punch of some navy and white accents.
Love, love, love...
Well I guess I have to wait a little less than 24 hours, then I can delve in deeper with my planning!

Birthdays, Snowdays and an almost 2 year old!

The month of birthdays is upon us, we have been to three parties and counting! The fourth and last one for the month is Charlotte's and it's going to be all
Tutu's and Ties O'r here ya'll!!
Saturday is the big party day and we are busy planning. Love it!!

En Route to one of the birthday parties after a snow fall we hit two rather large pieces of debris on the road en route and ended up with a flat tire! GRRROAN! The flat turns out and ..of course, was on the road side and poor Liam was trying to get the spare on whilst dodging massive 18 wheelers and trucks that fail to change lanes - - even when the other lane was wide open..Why is that??! Guess it was "our turn" so they say! The tire was "toast"
So we had a spareon for a whole week and that was the week that it decided to snow everyday! Was I ever happy that my parents are now here! They kept me company while we were housebound and my dad even offered to drive us to and from our little activities thruout the week! Was I EVER thankful!
What I am loving the last couple weeks.
Watching her in the snow!

Big mama footprints and itty bitty snowtreads side by side.

Letting her eat cake and watching her devour it with LOVE!!
"This is amazing!"
And I wonder why she didn't take a nap that day hmmmmm....

Drooly cuddles!!
Please note left arm slobber trails...

Watching her gather pinata droppings because all the other kids were doing it and her not knowing what these colourful little treasures are....

Untill now...

Catching up!

EEk! It has been almost two months since I have written a blog post ! I'm in a never ending race against myself and time - and in this case time has taken a handsome lead -so many things have happened.  I feel anxious because I don't want to forget all the little things that go on. Blogging for me is so great in the way that when I am in the swing of it - taking lots of pictures and "documenting" - our life. As routine as it is -I actually start thinking that our lives are actually quite busy and I feel somewhat organized!
It is so easy to get out of that rhythem and that is quite frankly what I've done. But,  I am back at it - full steam ahead. What a great year it is going to be!
Bring it 2012!
18 weeks along and feeling great! Finally have my appetite back - no more carbo loading - if I can help it - I love me some carbs! Potatoes, oodles of pasta, rice and don't forget good ol kraft dinner!
But it is actually refreshing to not gag at the faintest scent of cucumber ( I know ...I never thought cucumber had much of an odour either until October!) and actually ingest something with some sort of nutritious value.
What I really can't wait for is Feb 4th - ultrasound and.... finding out if this little treasure is pink or blue! I will be happy with either honestly! It would be nice to have one of each, but it would also be nice for Charlotte to have a sister, and all of her adorable girly clothing can be worn all over again! We feel so lucky to be pregnant again, and we all cannot be happier.
Christmas Delivered !
Yes, Most of these presents were for the little miss!
We had to do gift opening in 2 parts! She was overwhelmed to
say the least.
Nana and Papa Surridge were here for a visit.
And they brought GIFTS! Lots of em.

This was a hit! And, will be more so in the summer when she can
reach the pedals.
Nana and Papa Surridge!
It was nice to have some family in the province this year!
Days when sunshine is rare, and casts beautiful lights and shadows on the water. Days when we run out to heat our desperately deprived vitamin D bodies. Forgetting that it is bone chillingly cold.
Days when it's important to capture moments like this and freeze them. When Charlotte walks with ease with her Nana , meters away from her mom and dad and not a care in the world that she is!
Somehow knowing that these days are special and few and far between. Knowing that she needs to drink up every ounce of this bonding time because they live a plane ride away. And that the next time she sees them she will have to divide this time up with a sibling!
Family also means babysitters!

We got to go out for New Year's!
Great way to kick off the year!

Decking out!

Okay I admit it..much to Liam's and Lucy's shagrin I have began to decorate for Christmas.
"I don't want to even look!"

The "Main Event" a.k.a tree - has yet to make her yearly debut. In all honestly - it is a tad early to break that diva out. ,,,, maybe next weekend?? I cannot wait because then the seasons spirit can really get into full swing!
Bring it..... Eating, Entertaining, Family and Close friends!
Cheers to that!

We went to Potter's to check out their Christmas Fanfare...
I tell you that place is a DESTINATION to get you in the spirit - if you aren't already! It is a serious system overload of festive greatness! There is also a massive elephant statue from "The night at the Museum" there - Random!
So that was fun!
I decorated one of our mantles with mittens.
The whole little project cost me a whopping 11$ at the dollar store. And it helps to create a cozy and homey but festive feeling.

Charlotte is a little young still this year to understand the advent calendar concept. Next year these may be the perfect solution for putting little treasures in every day for her!
This treescape is on my front table. I got it from Ikea last year. I'm going to find some little forest dwelling critters to put in and around to make it more of an outdoorsy look.
For some reason this really reminds me of my childhood in Ontario. Having lived practically on a golf course lined with pine trees, we used to spend countlesss brisk but extremely sunny days days toboganning down the hills with neighbours and friends. The cold took a back seat and the fun of it all drove.
One day I would love to take the fam back to relive it all again! One of the millions of joys of having children, is being able to relive some of your childhood memories with them.
For this year this 20$ Ikea paper tree decoration will have to do. This will be my little piece of Kincardine "Home" .
That is it for now but I will definately be doing more in the nap times to come!
We braved the extreme wind and ventured out on monday to get some Christmas books at the library. This girl can now say "SHANTAAAW" - translation "Santa" - like nobodies business!

The firetruck in the library may as well have been disneyland as far as she was concerned. Loved it!
